Welcome to Equipping the Next Great Generation!
For what I believe is the first time in Christian history, we have
Five Generations worshipping/serving side by side. This can make things a little interesting around the communion table.
Silent Generation (1927-42), Baby Boomers (1943-62), Generation X (1963-78), Generation Y (1979-89) and Millennials
(1989-2000)
Myth #1: Older adults don’t like change and younger ones do.
Fact: Change isn’t the problem. What we all want to know is, “How will this affect my life and what will I gain or
lose?
Myth #2: This younger generation doesn’t want to work.
Fact: We have different histories and that’s what determines our work style. Many only see work or ministry being
done in an office or at the church. Others see it happening at Starbucks or with their laptop down at the lake.
What matters most is that ministry is getting done.
Myth #3: Young adults are anti-social, they don’t like being with others.
Fact: Actually they’re very social. It’s just happening by email and texting, not in the conference room with more
meetings. And who wouldn’t prefer having one less meeting?
Whatever generation you find yourself in, remember, it’s all about Jesus… Loving Him, Serving Him and Sharing His
Story with others.
Getting the Most from Your Conference Experience
- Check out the workshops that will benefit your specific area of ministry.
- Explore workshops in an area of interest, schedule some “Me Time” workshops.
- Add some “Joy Time” by attending workshops on comedy, music/drama, theology or ballooning.
Recharge your batteries!
Exhibits
You’ll find the largest ministry exhibit area on the West Coast. Sign up for drawings, get valuable advice, find out about
cool stuff you never knew existed and buy, buy, buy!
Wishing you a great conference,
